LEADERSHIP WITHOUT VISION: A CASE STUDY OF "BLIND LEADING THE BLIND"

In ancient times, humans encountered the problem of who to govern them. This gave rise to people of different race, nations and kingdoms challenging one another to war. The need for 'CHANGE' thus became a necessity, as they became conscious of the fact that there is need for a ruler over them; hence fate began to shape the paths of men toward that call for restoration - "LEADERSHIP".

Leadership, is the activity by which people become aware of ways to accomplish their desired goals, affirm values which they cherish and to develop new values and goals, which are in greater accord with their current capacities and ultimate potentials.

True Leadership is born from a True Vision.

On the other hand, Leadership without vision is seen as a case of 'blind leading the blind'. It is characterized by attempting to control others through orders, policies, rules, bureaucracy and changes; all designed to almost force them to work and to create and deliver what is considered to be satisfactory.

The world experiences no 'CHANGE', when a leader without vision is in position of authority. Meanwhile, a case study of Nigeria shows the potent effect and precise example of Leadership without vision.

Oguntoyinbo (2012:103) puts it "the people's pride deeply buried in the mud, insecurity hovers in the air; darkness all round. Smiles have vanished from their faces, their soul weary and scary. Blood of innocents crying, while looters are exonerated, celebrated and decorated. A place where psychopaths are enthroned. Virtues, values, sanity...are sacrificed"!

With reference to the above assertion, it is pertinent to know that Leadership without Vision "with regard to at least one important leadership challenge, do not create positive change" (Kellerman, 2004).

As Nigerian citizens, we cannot afford to continually dwell in the state of mediocrity; we must uphold the banner of our pledge and put to practice the song of our National Anthem; all our actions must fall within that jurisdiction.

Join hands with me, as we begin a new era of things, as we make this Nation a place to be...a home for all.
Together, WE CAN!

As election approaches, Think Positively, Vote Wisely.
Nigeria needs a 'CHANGE'.

Happy New month, Happy Independence!!!

DON'T GIVE UP!

No matter how much life's situation bother you,
No matter how difficult it is to sustain HOPE,
No matter how hard you're troubled with life's challenges,

Know this for sure...

The gloom will give ways to light
And the thorny paths cleared of pains,
The storms will bow to the prompting of Peace
Lost moments of glory will be restored
And strangled opportunities reborn
You shall yet regain the dawn.

Cos...

There's a place befitting Queens & Kings
An altitude only Eagles can attain
That's where you belong,
A class of Nobles, ahead of Crowd
There, you'll always remain.
